In many cases Mrs Rivet cooks better than I can (indoor cooking), and I tell her that~ Still, she'd rather not cook if she has a choice so I'm guessing it's 50/50 here.
I really wonder what this poll would look like off of this forum. I think most of us here share a passion for cooking and that seems to heavily weight the responses - just wonder what it would be like outside our Disneyland
Due to unemployment I cook all meals except one per week on average. When working I usually cooked 3 out of 7 dinners, with 2 the wife and 2 take home dinners. Wife cooks Thanksgiving, I cook all the rest of holiday or special event meals.
The wife has some really good simple dishes, and perfected her turkey cooked in a oven bag, her thanksgiving dinner is awesome. But she isn't inspired to cook new and different things, to her it is just work.
Mrs. Shooter and I both cook. Since she grew up on a farm she cooks good ole country meals and is an accomplished Italian cook. I on the other hand venture into unknown territory from time to time and do the smoke and most of the grill.
The spouse and I both share with inside cooking, but I do all the smoking and grilling. When I brought home My Charbroil TEC she thought I was crazy for spending that much. But she sure likes those homegrown steaks cooked on it. When I brought home the Chargriller she thought I was crazy, But she sure has liked everything so far. Daughter said she decided if it ain't smoked it ain't good. And I gotta say she's right
We both cook .When I met my wife she could get water to stick in a Teflon pan now she's the best but often cooks for a large group most of the time. Then I hate to see the food go to waste and I eat allot of it.
When we started dating in 88 she was cooking in her apartment and came out and said"so when do you have to empty these things? what things? the garbage disposal.
Now outdoor cooking I do 95% of it .The bride will start things on the grill and then ask me to watch it.How do you do that? I have no idea how long it's been on what temp.and so on.I like to show the kids that not everything comes all ready packaged in a red, yellow or pink Styrofoam container.I go hunting & fishing we pickle and can stuff too.My mom taught us kids all how to cook ,can pickle things at a young age and I'm still alive ,must be working.Bill
We share. If you call putting a block of frozen chicken on the counter sharing.
I don't mind most of the time. I eat, therefore I cook.
And we eat well because of it.
I do all of the cooking as well. My wife is a good cook but as someone else had said she really has no imagination for cooking anything other than the basic 6 or 7 meals. Plus she is in law school so I'm happy to help out and I don't want to make her mad since I'm gonna mooch off of her some day LOL
I cook, she bakes!
I am home before her everyday during the week so I usually make supper.
weekends when Im working she cooks
anything outdoors or involving anything grilled or smoked I am in charge!
as well as any parties on the holiday, ect. she does the condiment, relish trays , dips. I do the main courses.
we are great together and it works out perfect!
and she admits I am the better cook! and I admit that some of the delicious things she bakes I do not even want to try!
My wife and I split the cooking about 50-50 anymore. She used to do almost all the cooking but in the last year or so. I have started doing a whole lot more of it and really enjoy it. I couldn't hardly boil water when we got married 9 years ago. So she has had her hands full.
I have to say since I found this place, I am getting really addicted to smoking, cooking alot now and am wanting to make some sausage now too.
I'll go with the 50/50.
Both of us are good cooks, just like cooking different things which is nice and gives us a good variety that we wouldn't otherwise be doing/experiencing/enjoying.
Been married coming on 18 years, and we learned long ago that the only thing we are not good at is cooking together!
98% here and it's not done in the kitchen. It's gotten to the point that everyone here wants smoked foods. My wife says she wont even cook pork chops anymore; she'll only eatem if they're off the smoker. The other day she actually cooked Lasagne. But she cooked for an army. So I took a nice long (fatty length) chunk and rolled it up in a fatty. It's in the freezer now. I will let ya'all know how that one turns out.
--ray--
I do most of the cooking, about 98%. Since i know what I need and because I can do math in my head and price shop, I get the groceries as well. When my wife does cook, I'm constantly over her shoulder (mostly to keep an eye on my pans). She hates that. She also has the ability to use every spatualla, measuring cup, incorrect knife and spoon in the kitchen and not clean a darn think until the meal is done. I hate that!
I do all the cooking, I was a line cook for a long time at various types restaurants(greasy spoon, Italian, Short order, banquet hall, etc) so I have a pretty good idea how to cook most things, if not I am pretty good at finding and following recipes or coming up with my own recipes..
