Do you guys have any good sites where you buy your sausage seasonings? I have usually bought mine from a local butcher but they are charging over $35 for their seasoning batches. I have looked on Sausagemaker.com and Curley's web page. Anyone have any other favorite places and any particular flavor you love to buy? I am getting in the Sausage making mood. I love this time of year.

You can do fine making your own seasoning mix. Find a recipe you like and get your spices in bulk from local stores.

What you did you have in mind to make?

I haven't started making sausage yet but I have heard many fplks in here say to buy the seasoning in bulk and you'll save a pile of money. So just fine your recipes and go buy what you need.

I use "Leggs" seasonings, and get them from RBH out of Florida, cheapest place that I have found, about 1/2 of AlliedKenco or Butcher Packer. They used to have a web site, but you have to call them now. 904-964-4975 / 800-364-0042....real nice people, you can get casings from them too.

I am looking for a country, polish and a hunters sausage. Like I said I use to buy them from the local butcher but their pricing way to high all of a sudden. Just looking for a good web page or two to look through to buy seasoning from.

I buy all my spices at a whole foods store. I don't buy premade packs as I like to know just what is going into the sausage I make. I go by recipes that I find online or from Ryteks book and tweek them to my liking. A whole lot cheaper than buying ones already made up. If your looking for a certain recipe, pm me and I shoot one or two over to ya.

I've been blending all my own seasonings lately as I find the premixes are to salty for my taste buds. I buy the small containers of spices at the local stores so there's a chance they'll be fresh when I finish them off, otherwise i like butcher & packer and a few others for all the oddball stuff the locals don't have.

I have been slowly developing my own from whole spice I grind. For me thats part of the fun. So far I have perfected for our taste, Italian, and Kielbasa. I am working on a chicken and andoulli now.

I started out buying mine from butcher-packer and thesauasagemaker but now I try to make all my own now. the only one I still buy is the venison bacon spice block from curly's..........yummy!

Another vote for SpokaneSpice.com I was just in there store last month when I was there hunting, picked up some more Jerky seasoning and a few sausage mixes to try.

I make most of my own (based on books), but I do use Sausage Maker's mix for hot dogs, as I really like it. I also occassionally use their polish sausage mix. It's really good, but I add tons of fresh garlic to it.

You can find their mixes here: http://www.sausagemaker.com/
