What's the little green square represent?

Well, I've searched all over the site and haven't found any reference to "what does the little green squares on the right side of info block mean"?

When one posts a smoke, sausage makin' outing or anything a person does that reflects a pat on the back or a hell ya good job u can give them points. U click the little scale in the upper right hand corner of the thread.

The little green boxes are Reputation Points they are earned a couple ways one is by the number of posts the other is if someone helps you or posts some good info or maybe a good smoke or whatever and you feel they deserve an atta boy type thing then in their post you will see a set of scales up near the top on the right hand side when you click on that it always you to make a short comment and it gives them points. X amount of points means another green tile.

Scott I understand that some havent gotten their points back. It is a manual process because of the great crash. Some people we do not know what they had.

Some members have earned their tiles back by posting alot on the site. Its been almost a year and I am sure that you could of earned back what you lost. I have adjusted yours some. I do not know what you had. If you had more let me know and I can get it adjusted.

Thanks for the quick response. Thought it must be some sorta recognition item. Didn't mean to stir up some bad feelings. That is the one major bad fault in a forum type site, especially if you don't know the history (your "great crash" for instance). It's so hard to be sure no words are posted that might be misinterpeted as to meaning or context, especially on a national or international site like this one. Hey, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I joined in november last year and lost a bunch myself.Back then i think we had a point/rep count as well...I definrtly understand the older members feeling a bit tweeked-being a newer sorta member.I have posted a bunch/q-view since then and got a lot of points,but i understand completely...

Hey, it's all good, luckily the 'great crash' wasn't any greater or we'd all be on someone else's board who doesn't give out little green squares! :))
I've got to take a moment and tell everyone how great it is to be a part of this board and how it gives me a chance to give to others what I can. I owe one member some things for what he sent me, hopefully I can afford to send something out soon. I am in awe of the tremendous knowledge and selflessness on this board, everyone helping each other, and what knowledge we all have to gain from each other. Thank you for the opportunity to participate and serve!

Well said, Pops. I've only been here a month or so, but am tremendously impressed with the willingness of members to share and learn from each other. This is truely a magical place for those of us afflicted with the meat (and other stuff) smoking mania!

While I realize that the points mean a lot to some folks, my reason for being here is to learn and to share what knowledge I have with the forum. Points or no points, the idea of the forum as I have been able to gather is the sharing of information and a common love of smoking and food. For me any recognition I get is a bonus.
