well I thought that the probes use a type of coax cable ..ya know outer layer and inner layer of wire. an that's for the resistance or ohm readings for the unit to track temps...am I wrong[NEVER CUT ONE YET]  jeff

As for my probe repair, I found the problem after sliding te sensor out of the probe tip and it looks like an easy soldering fix.

However, since then I've lost the tip of my right tumb in a mandoline slicer so that project is on hold for now...
