Hey everyone,

name is Bryan, live in Vienna VA.  Work for NIH in bethesda.  LOVE LOVE LOVE cooking, grilling, barbequeing, smoking...anything involving food or food prep....  Have ben cooking for other for many years now (no formal training... bachelors degree in Health Sciences haha)... got a Masterbuilt upright Electric Digital smoker (4 shelf) 2 years ago and have fallen in love with smoking.  Was bored @ work about 2 months ago and decided... "shit im goign to make a trailer smoker to tow behind the xterra"... well I can weld (amatuer) and use the hell outs some power tools... so shes well underway... will post pictures when i figure out how.  I am not made of money so a lot of my supplies have been craigslist leftovers and deals...and freebies from all over when I can find them.  I get off work @ 3pm every day for i have a solid hour or 2 to to work on my new toy.  Days are getting longer now so I hope to have her done in the next month....

I have a trailer.... 275 gallon fuel oil tank (as the actual meat chamber), a 55 gallon drum (the firebox) and a nice piece of heavy duty 6.5" diamter pipe to connect my firebox to my chamber.  I have already crafted the grate for the meat and just today picked up a sheet of 16 gauge 4'x8' to make the "baffle" or whatever the hell you call the piece that makes the smoke run to the other side of the chamber then up and back to the smokestack in a reverse flow smoker.

Anyways, thats my story and I am SUPER FRICKEN STOKED to be doing this.  Please feel free to give me kudos or constructive criticism.  Look forward to some input and reading around on the website.

First off welcome Bryan to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

 http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/82034/how-to-post-qview-to-smf

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction
