I just through 3 racks of Baby backs on the Champ Chef, which I haven't used in 2yrs, and after cleaning it, it fired right up and is running like a champ.
For my rub I used a light coat of Heath Riles garlic jalapeno and let it soak in, then right before I threw them on, I dusted them with a light coat of H.R. peach rub. After 2 hrs I'll hit them with Kosmos peach jalapeno rib glaze. Mom like sauced, sticky ribs, so I'll sauce them with whatever sauce I have opened, either Kinders org, or Blue Hog's org. que sauce. Man, I haven't smoked anything in quite a while, it feels and smells great to fire up the Que again.

Pictures to follow.
Dan.

For a change...NOTHING...😄 We will be providing the charcuterie board and others in our zoo will be doing the cooking for us matriarchs and patriarchs. Get to take a break...
My folks are 85 yrs old, seeing that my wife and I don't have kids, I always make sure Momma and Pop's get what they like best on Mother's, Father's Day, and birthdays.
Mom doesn't cook much anymore, my wife can't boil water without a timer, so that leaves me to do the cooking, good thing I enjoy cooking!!!

We are in the nothing camp this year. Our living daughter is having us over for mescal margs and tacos they are buying. Sounds perfect. Should be warm and sunny for an outdoor gathering with them and their two kiddos.

That sounds like a great time!

Mrs philpom is trying to talk me in to smoking a butt carnita style. I just unloaded and spread 2 yards of mulch at our church so it looks nice tomorrow morning for the moms, too tired to think about smoking anything. I probably will.....

I am doing my mothers day dinner tonight. I like some spice but mom wants something a little milder so i am trying some new rubs tonight.
I have 2 racks of St. Louis ribs on the smoker right now. One rack is done up with Motley Que Pork and Rib Fixx paired with Yonedas Chicken and Rib sauce. The other rack is Richard Fergolas Buttery Garlic rub. Not sure if I will leave this one naked or add some Blues Hog BBQ sauce. I also have half a pork loin with a chipolte mango rub but that is for later in the week.

The ribs will be paired with baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread and a salad to be named later. For dessert there will be a tuxedo cake from Costco.

Ribs are currently wrapped in foil but if I get around to it I will post some pics when they are finished.

Well like a dummy, I forgot to take a pick of the ribs. I will be reheating them on Pop's gas grill tommow, I'll try to remember to take a pic then.
"A mind is a terrible thing to waste" :emoji_laughing: 🤬

I gotta work tomorrow so I'm guessing we will be going out for dinner. Going to have to make her something good when we get back from being out of town in a few weeks.

First Mother's Day without my mother, and my wife drove up to Austin to be with her mother. No cooking for me but I'm going to my sister and BIL's and he's doing wings and potato salad. That'll work!
Sorry man, this is one of my biggest fears in life. I'm a self admitted Momma's boy.
Enjoy the time with your family.

Motherless Day ?
My MIL : Wife,s Mom just passed few days ago...
My Mom passed a few years ago.
This Day kinda rekindles memories and also lack of that are gone?
I still have not really let it go as we speak.
I guess that is why I have been a bit of a PITA here? IM VERY SORRY!
Remember the good times and pass along her legacy .
AMEN!

Nothing planned nor am I in the mood.
We just finished our road trip from Florida today and we are wiped out.
Maybe after a good night sleep in my bed the mood may change.

Doing another one of the locally sourced turkey breasts that I did a couple of months back.

I was thinking starting out at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then Culver’s for lunch topped by Costco pizza.

Then I remembered there is no Cracker Barrel any where nearby and the whole plan went down the drain.

@forktender,

My parents have been gone for 50 years and my MIL passed away 12 years ago at the age of 92. Nancy and I don't usually pay attention to Mother's and Father's day for each other but since I do most of the fancy cooking around home and all of it on camping trips the last few years have been different.

For the third year in a row we're 6 hours from home in the camper at Oregon Inlet campground on the North Carolina Outer Banks. Last year I made roasted stuffed lobster tails the day before Mother's Day. I don't remember what I made on Mother's Day.

Yesterday I made pan seared fresh scallops and angel hair pasta with a browned butter, sage and lemon cream sauce. She woke up this morning still raving about it so I've been informed that more lemon sauce pasta is in our future. Probably with shrimp or jumbo lump crab since finding good dry scallops, frozen or fresh, in our part of the foothills of the Blue Ridge is like finding both a unicorn and a hen with teeth in the same grocery store aisle.

Today for Mother's Day, Nancy asked for an easy one; batter fried red drum so I'm making fish tacos. And since I need to get some red drum I better get busy......

Wife went to work yesterday morning, will be home this morning... I'll probably hand her a beer!
Ribs sound good though!

And @Fueling Around ,it could be worse... at least you didn't come back to the great white north!

And @Elf@shore , remember the good times, it's hard to lose them... but they made us who we are! A couple weeks ago we were gonna have my grandaughter's 1st birthday. My daughter ran out of coffee creamer and asked my wife if she had any. She got out some my mom used to drink and the smell of that cup of coffee sent my daughter into tears. So much that she had to hug my wife. When my wife left the room my daughter cried again and needed a hug from me. My mom passed April 1st of 2020... miss her dearly, but it does get better! My thoughts at the time were not of sadness, but what my mom meant to my daughter and how she helped to make her into the person she is today. And yes, writing that brought some tears!

Ryan

Three racks of back ribs, cheesy corn and roasted potatoes. The kids and grand kids are coming over at three. I'll get started on it as soon as we get home from church. The Mens Group are doing a breakfast for the mothers after the service. So, it will be a busy day.
