I am looking for a good grinder that can ALSO stuff sticks/sausage casings with ease without the typical overstuffing (explosion) am i asking too much out of a grinder or is there one out there with attachments that will meet my expectations? Or should i just bite the bullet and buy a sausage stuffer? also...where can i find the ac legg #116 i cant find it on ebay! cheapest place please :)    thanks a bunch

thanks joe! great site, they have everything i need! anyone have any thoughts on a grinder?

good enough for me. Im going to buy a stuffer as well how is the LEM 5 lb stuffer? any recomendations?

I'm with Alesia and bite the bullet and buy a seperate stuffer. It is really a lot easier to crank a handle then deal with the motor. A motor slows down where a hand crank stops dead.

I have the LEM 5# and really like it. Metal gears and great service from the Butcher Supply shop where I bought it. There are a lot of less expensive one out there that a lot of people here are very satisfied with but I bought mine local. They also make the stainless stuffing tubes if you ever need to upgrade.

ok LEM 5# with metal gears. Sounds like a good unit im going to buy it this week. One more question i noticed that you have to use AC Legg cure with seasoning which is one ounce on the 'quick cure' treats up to 25 lbs of meat. my question: can i use the one ounce packet for say 10 pounds of meat? or do i have to cut it down to what i need?

You have to adjust your cure to the amount of meat. The package states 4oz for 100lbs, 1oz for 25lbs and 1/4t per 1lb. Read up on the cure here. It can be dangerous if not used correctly as I'm sure several members will jump in and warn you about. I am no expert by any means but follow the directions and you will do great.

thanks again john! all of yall have been great! cant wait to get started on my first snack sticks

I bought one of the 15# from Northern Tool. They are very good stuffers and good quality. Metal gears are a must. You will not know how you did without one.
