I grew up loving both Rock and Country.

It's my humble opinion the greatest Rock studio album (non-live and non-greatest hits) is Boston's self-titled debut album.

If you include anthology or greatest hits albums, I'd pick The Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975

And hands down, my favorite country album is from The King himself - George Strait's Strait From the Heart.

When I was a teenager I was given the George Strait box set and it was one of the greatest gifts I've ever received. Why? The great music but also the memories to be made riding around on country roads, back roads, and just living life in a small town with not much to do. It had an amazing song for every situation.

Bought new in 1975 . Listened to it daily when I got home from school .
Need to get me a turntable . Found a bunch of good ones .

tried our darndest to record songs off the radio.

I remember those old Cassette players. I too tried many times to record off the Radio.

Dang DJ was always stepping on the intro or the ending of the songs!
Local radio station here had a Sunday night program called the 7th day . They would play albums start to finish . No commercials . I recorded a bunch of stuff .
I had a JVC setup where all the components were synced together . Made recording easy . I used to use a VHS player and record 8hrs on one tape .
I still have all that stuff . From 1986 .

I'd have to say Big and Rich... Comin to Your City.

Will add that it's humbling to know Niles... we met him through friends on our yearly trip to Deadwood S.D. On the few days we are there we visit the VFW on friday afternoon, and have some beers.

Wow J Geils. Wooba Gooba with the green teeth. Let me in!!!! I haven't heard that in years. As for Purple. I had Machine Head(Album and cassette), but Made in Japan had the best rendition of Smoke on the Water.

I think Smoke on the Water is still the most recognized tune by the first couple of guitar licks. Thank you to that some stupid with a flair gun and burned the place to the ground.
