Had some friends over and have a bunch of hot dogs leftover that I had grilled. I have a real problem wasting food so I'm always looking for ways to repurpose leftovers. Wondering what you all do with leftover hot dogs? I have some chili in the freezer so my first instinct is chilli cheese dogs. Any other cool ideas? Thanks!

I never seem to have any leftover hot dogs or sausages, that's why I try not to buy them to often or make them.

I like all of the ideas! Especially one about just eating all of them haha. I took a look in my freezer... Have some 80/20 ground beef, chili, bacon... So I am thinking maybe a chili bacon cheeseburger dog fatty.

Real Peasant food but a huge favorite here for many years...1Lb Hot Dogs, 2lbs Sliced Red Potatoes, 1/2 Head Cabbage, sliced (about 6 Cups), 2C Diced Onions (1 large) and 1 Stk Butter,  Salt & Pepper to taste. Melt butter in a large pan over med/high heat, I use a big electric skillet. Add all and saute turning every few minutes until all is browned and the potatoes are tender. Takes about 30 minutes...JJ

I like the sound of that too... That will be after the next bbq!  I always have leftover hot dogs because my wife always tells me to make them for the kids and then they eat all the smoked food I make haha

Hahaha Richie...Frank and beans is classic.  My mom used to make that too.  Wasn't much of a bean fan when I was a kid.

Bag 'em up put them in the fridge

they make great snacks.

I really like cold cooked hot dogs.

Keep on smokin'                               Ed

Our mom use to make this. We loved it.
Point for a memory that has me smiling

Thanks. If you were born in '67, then our Mom's are probably from the same Greatest Generation. Learned from Grandma to feed a bunch of kids on a little bit of meat...JJ

You've all made up my mind. Chili cheese dogs tomorrow and a bacon chili cheeseburger dog fatty to be frozen and eaten at a later date

Alright this may sound kind of weird but trust me it's good
My mom used to use leftovers anyway she could so she would make hotdog canoes. Very easy to make take a dog split it down the middle to make a v fill with mashed potatoes and top with a half slice of cheese throw in the oven to warm up and then top with coney sauce
Sounds weird but I'm 45 and now cook hotdogs just make these and my kids love them.
Guess I know what's for dinner tomorrow

I usually take scraps and leftover hot dogs etc. into some plastic baggies and put in freezer then when i drive up to my parentI take them along, i defrost the scraps and leftovers and give them to my Mom's Pyrenees Dogs. They love my cooking!

Happy Smoking,

Used to have those sometimes as a kid as well. I usually did not have mine with coney sauce though.

There is also the American childhood favorite...Cheese filled Hot Dogs wrapped in Cresant Roll Dough...JJ
