What Cookbook Software to use?

I guess I’m going to be petty and wait for Black Friday on the paprika. I have word documents and a bunch of links. It’ll be nice to get organized but no hurry.

Had been using macgourmet for many years but it's not being supported and with a number of pita quirks I went looking for an alternate. Wow, Paprika Recipe Manager 3 turned out to be great. A number of excellent features. Imported all 500+ recipes from the old mac app without a single issue. This includes all of my notes. I maintain a record of what I did for each smoke recipe. A particularly love the import from web part. In safari go to the share section and at the bottom is the paprika app hit it and it downloads the recipe instantly.

If you're looking for a simplistic and free recipe manger Gourmet Recipe Manager isn't bad.It's antiquated and somewhat limited but is decent enough for a free program.

I use the Linux version Gourmand which is maintained/updated regularly but of course you need to be using a Linux distro.

There's cookbook software??? Who knew.. I've used Microsoft word for years, easy to tweek recipes and save. Wow, something new everyday....maybe I should get out of my cave more often.

I’m a fan of Recipe Keeper. Mostly because of the import features. It can import from a photo, pdf, and website.

It also has a feature where you can create cookbooks within the app. Pretty cool.

If you buy the desktop and phone versions they sync automatically across all of the computers and devices when it’s opened.

It’s not the cheapest to buy, but it’s not subscription based. It’s a one time cost and all upgrades are free.

As my screen name says, I brew my own beer. I use a brewing recipe app for the various beers I brew. One of the things I like, and use often, is the inventory feature. I buy my ingredients in bulk, and enter that into the app. As I brew each batch, it reduces my inventory by that much. It’s a great way to know if I have the ingredients needed for a particular beer.

I wish food recipe apps would do the same. I don’t do meal planning, so it would be great to see what recipes I can make based on my inventory. Paprika does have a grocery list feature, and you can add those to your pantry, which is also a feature of the app, but is doesn’t take out the amount used when you cook.

I guess I’m just spoiled by the brewing app I use.

Thanks to those who suggested Paprika. I have just spent the last couple of days putting my recipes into it. It really makes it easy to capture recipes from the internet. I love the ability to search out the recipes. I had all of mine saved as PDF files and was printing them out as needed. Would make notes on the printed copy and then have to type them in. This software eliminates that. Looking forward to be able to use it on camping trips.

If you live alone I guess it would work, but a family - especially with ravenous teenagers - no chance.
