Over the weekend driving back from Southern Missouri to just outside Minneapolis through Waterloo and Mason City Iowa I saw between $3.25 and $3.59. Most expensive being here in MN.

From my perspective, you got a pretty good deal. We use the same Shell 93 octane in both of our cars, mine being a 2018 Audi R8 V10, the same engine used by Lamborghini. Filled it up a couple days ago in suburban Chicago and it was $5.49/Gal. I noticed on the pump that regular was $4.39/Gal.
In the good old days 87 octane was X, mid was X+ a dime, premium was X+ 2 dimes. I remember when they started really jacking up premium, nowadays here it's usually about 7-8 dimes over regular, except at Sam's where it's usually just 5 additional dimes. Sam's isn't tier 1 gas, but I've never had a problem with it. On the rare occasions I tow, I will spring for higher octane, usually at Sam's. Never seen it 1.20 higher than regular

Higher octane is achieved by increasing 'gasoline aromatics' (or increasing corn juice %). Suppliers made the aromatics higher, that's why the price is disproportionate to the olden days.

I suspect that the manufacturers who build modern power plants that require premium get a cut from the aromatics clans.

Back in the dawn of time, big HP pushrod V8's cranking out 200-300hp required 100ish octane. But in a modern engine, that could easily be designed out.

Latest California has price data as of 09/28/23.

"Statewide, the average is about $6.08, more than $2 higher than the national average of $3.83."

Gas is close to $7 /gal in some places around the state. Locally, Costco gas at $5.29 / gal is the cheapest in my area. Most stations are $5.59 to $5.89/gal

Can't say more without getting into state politics, summer blend, winter blend, $1.18/gal taxes, etc.

This morning :
Flex fuel $3.49 a gallon
87 $6.10 a gallon
91 $6.39 a gallon
Diesel $6.69 a gallon

Wife is hooked up with Kroger Groceries so we usually get $1 off at the pump dialing in our Phone Number.

Prices like that make you wanna distilling your own alcohol for fuel.
I know not to get political but Calif is locked in on high taxes and fuel prices and that's that.

Out home is paid off, suits our needs and moving out of state doesn't pencil out,,, yet.
Wife drives 80 miles a day to work and back and gets a few bucks on her check if she takes the train or drives an EV.

My work actually gave me an Toyota RAV EV to drive and a Amtrak pass. Driving 100 miles with an EV that only did 90 miles range and ya better be on the charger by 70 miles,, not gonna work.
The free pass was always good anyplace on Amtrak any time so that was cool.

We charge our EV6 free on home solar. Charges at a rate over a mile a minute.
I ain't no advocate of EV's so to my distinguished fellow Meat Forum Members,, don't jump on me. Your beef is with the Politian's forcing them on us.

On the road has been free charging for over the past year and but as you can see from the pic, 50% of the chargers are broken and that is the norm. Read that: The Normal.

The TESLA charging is excellent, but only 1/3 will be available to non-Teslas. They ain't telling ya that.
Also they ain't telling ya out here, at least around these parts Tesla owners pay about 19 cents a KW, non Tesla people are paying around 48 cents a KW. That may change,, but I doubt it.

Charges good on the generator when power is in short supply on cloudy days and the grid goes down. A gallon of gas put over 95 miles range on the car:

I haven't seen prices like those in California, but supposedly WA state is still the highest average.
I just came back from filling my tank at a Fred Meyer store (owned by Kroger) because I had a 20-cent fuel discount that I had use up by today.
The sign overhead advertised regular for $4.79 gal. When I got to the pump it was actually $4.89! I spoke to the employee inside the kiosk, and she just shrugged and said, "We don't do the signs." Such great customer service. :emoji_rage:

Can't tell ya the fuel prices here in Iowa since I haven't fueled anything up recently but way cheaper than on the west coast. Sure love this state... my son bought me an early Christmas present... upper tool box to sit on my lower one. Taking it out to his car to put in back seat, a stranger offered to deliver it using his pickup if it didn't fit in backseat. It fit just barely so son went back in store to tell the stranger thanks for the offer, but it fit. Still decent friendly people around!

Yes. They are still out there. Especially in small town America.
Non-ethanol is 4.65 a gallon here. I use it in my John Deere. Regular is 3.75.

Yeah it just plain sucks.
Put gas in pickup tonight at $3.519 with my 12¢ discount (big whoopee).
Diesel pickup has a fuel pump leak so not driving it.
Fuel is around $4.50 so the gasser is actually more economical these days.

What really sucks, the grower (farmer) I work for waited too long to order on road truck fuel.
We are just getting into the harvest (sugar beets) that is very truck heavy.

Traveled to Western Kansas this weekend from KC. Average gas prices have been $3.69 for E10.
And I was bitchin' about it. Guess I'll just shut up!

Just got rid of the diesel a few months ago. Ridiculous fuel prices. Was paying $5.52 for #1 last winter, not again !

Native mission just dropped their price to 1.31 a liter
Not sure what that works out to gallons but still pretty damn expensive.
