Three years ago today I was about killed by a hit and run driver while I was test driving a bike that I had just rebuilt the motor..

I have no recollection of the wreck or a few weeks after it.

The list of broken bones is long and the TBI lingers on.. http://www.michiganautolaw.com/personal-injuries/tbi/symptoms.php

Working at a HD dealer I had seen plenty of deaths and limbs lost from wrecks so I am grateful to have everything still attached and be alive..

I spent close to a year in Shepherd Center rehab... http://www.shepherd.org/

I used to have a video here that was from the TV station that interviewed me after I woke up...

As it played out I am a lucky guy today...

The insurance and lawyers made it so I have a house in a small town thats paid for and loving wife that stuck thru some very tough times...

 Have a great day!!

God bless, Craig.  Stories like yours make me cherish the time I've had, and whatever time I have left.  Thanks for shaing it.

It is great that you have been able to recover as you have. My oldest just got her Motorcycle Riders licence Manual to prepare to get her permit and license. I am not thrilled about the whole deal. Although she is level headed and won't do anything stupid there are way too many Idiots on the road. They scare the hell out of me in a 3000 Pound minivan never mind a couple hundred pounds of bike...JJ

One amazing story Craig......  I, for one, am glad you are here.....   I remember seeing the video you had posted....  I just looked for it, and couldn't find it.... thought it would be interesting for others to see...

I rode a bike from age 13 til the wreck..9 years in a club...several wrecks and surgery's..just went with the territory..mainly alcohol related..

Used to be the only thing you needed to pay close attention to was people turning left in front of you..

With the usual excuse of "I didnt see you"...

Now its what we called the "Cell Phone Assassins" that you have to watch every thing every second....

They come out of everywhere...its scary out there now...

One of my oldest friends got his leg pinched off last year by a 19 YO  who was texting..went right thru a red light without slowing down..

Being level headed and not doing stupid stuff doesnt always save you today..

Lots of folks make it thru without ever having an accident tho..I hope she is one of them..

A story about a strong will to live for sure. I have not heard the term cell phone assassins before but can attest to the accuracy of it's meaning. Unlike your friend, I had enough time to lift my leg before the idiot turned into me. She was looking me in the eye, then proceeded to take off and t-bone me. When I landed, I was looking up at the bottom of her radiator, with the fan and engine still turning.

You story is inspiring and needs to be shared with some of the cell phone drivers. Maybe that, and a slap upside the head with a baseball bat, will get them thinking about others on the road.

Keep the Shiny Side Up my friend

Next time I go to the VA I will stop and visit...

Hated not making it this year..the traffic was too much for me..I was gonna come across 20 to 12 ..looked like a nice drive...

Real glad you're still with us Craig!!!

I don't even have a cell phone any more, but I had one when I worked for my Son. Got a call from a "Sprint" tech, and I got in the wrong lane at a TPK exit.

Gave the phone to the climber I had with me, because my one track mind couldn't handle it while driving!!!

Glad you made it through all that.  I have been riding for 40 years now and I know I am very lucky.
