Greetings from Wild Wonderful West Virginia USA, I am 61sleepercab from my Mack B Model semi tractor I saved from the scrappers and shared with a friend. I started cooking for a crowd in 1980? as kitchen steward for the Alpha Gamma Rho agricultural and forestry fraternity at West Virginia University at Morgantown, West Virginia. I planned the menu ,bought the groceries and supervised the brothers cooking for 20-25 growing boys. Armed with my mother's copy of "FOOD FOR FIFTY" i found out 25 boys ate the 50 person portions. I was later the house parent for a WVU sorority and planned and bought their meals for 40 girls, buying $25,000.00 in groceries yearly. Boy was that a learning curve for sure. We did "BY GUESS AND BY GOLLY BBQ" with outdoor wood open pit whole hogs and deer and beef involving various skills of cooking bbq and beer sampling. I helped with the WVU agriculture school special treat open charcoal pit cooked split chicken halves, in wire mesh flippable flat baskets , hundred or more halves at a time. I have cooked for school functions, fundraisers and our former farm ham and bean dinner for 150. My newest toy to play with is a MKT 85 ARMY FIELD KITCHEN with diesel burners, two ovens and monster pots, pans and a grill top. I call it my $100.000 GI HOT DOG COOKER. I have all the parts now and will fire it up soon. I am interested in sharing what little I have learned, and hope to build a smoker/cooker trailer in the future. I hope to learn and share here on this interesting site. Thanks for any info....Mark aka 61sleepercab.
