G'Day Bruces! :emoji_sunglasses:

Welcome to my small part of the World. I live in Queensland and when I started smoking American Style BBQ in 2009, literally nobody here knew what that was. Cuts like brisket and tri-tip were non existent. Pulled pork was unheard of.

Over time things got a lot better and now there is a very strong BBQ community and quite a few BBQ Restaurants around.

I went to one today in Murwillimbah. 20 Twenty Smokehouse is out the back of the local Rugby Leagues club and it's only open on Sunday from 12 to 5. I only just heard about it, so I made my way there hoping for some good BBQ.

This is always a promising sign:

Inside it's more of a Bar than a restaurant. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Sunday is game day, so there were a few thousand locals watching the game as well as being at the Smokehouse.

Turns out they have a buzzer system. Take a buzzer, and when it buzzes, it's your turn to order. No lining up is really good. You can sit and have a beer and get comfy. The Menu:

So for me, I went the Texas Trinity.

Which did not disappoint!

Brisket. Very thick slices. Really moist, particularly for flat.

Ribs, I gotta say were about 5% over... I mean picky picky... Not sending these back!

And the sausage was A grade...

Eventually I got through it all...

It was big enough for 2 people, but I ate it all... except the slaw and the slaw was very ordinary slaw. I mean if you're coming out just for the slaw you need an operation on your head anyway... but the slaw was no good.

On the whole, I had a great meal. Good BBQ is expensive in DownSide Up land, but just remember there's no tipping.

Anyway, it was a great day trip for me. I'm stuffed full. No dinner for me tonight.

Cheers!

Bill

Damn, that looks completely legit!!!
I would have zero problems hanging out there on a Sunday afternoon.
That looks like a fun place to watch a game, and drink a few brews.
The food looks KILL'er as well!!!

BBQ is expensive everywhere once you factor in the meat and the man hours that go into it, it's really a deal when you don't feel like cooking.

Looks like a great place to eat and have a couple beers! Food looked great!

I've always been a bar person,my local bar is like a second home. If I lived there that place would be my second home and having good grub on game day is a must.
