Hey folks,

I’m thinking about building or buying a tray for my 22 inch WSM. Just wondering if you had any thoughts. Here’s a pic. I thought about using a secondhand performer cart for it.

Want to make sure I understand. Can I safely assume what you are referring to would be along the lines of a shelf to use that's on the side of the cooker? Or are you thinking more along the lines of a cart to move it around?

I take it that you've measured to make sure the WSM would indeed fit on the performer cart?
If you have, then I think you would only need to replace the wire shelf with a solid shelf so that you can bolt down WSM.

Might be a pain to make sure you get the body on after start up. Other than that, I can't think of any real drawbacks. I dont have one of those carts so not positive.

For the bottom shelf, if that wite is solid and stable, maybe just attaching some steel flashing from lowes or home depot might do the trick so you can bolt things down.

I saw a YouTube video where a guy made his own cart. He used 4x4 wood that he probably screwed together. Put heavy duty small rubber tires on it and fastened a handle to move it. He then used some small brackets to fasten the WSM to the cart. Seems like you could more easily do something like this instead.

Luckily my next door neighbor does Woodworking for a living. He thought of something similar to what webs05 saw on youtube...I think. That's probably the route I'll go. Thanks!
