Wash before use

I just received a tube smoker yesterday and plan to use it on today's smoke. Can I just wash it with soap and water or do I have to season it on the grill prior to use?

I thought I read you can wash the smoke generators. I did and loaded it up.

Maybe I should have washed mine, I never really gave it a thought.
I have both tubes & trays & just loaded them up & started using them.

I gave my tray a quick scrub down before I used it. Just in case there were any oils on it.

Interesting I would just load and go thinking the heat would take care of any in purity's. But the manufacturing oil is a good point.

I washed it and it worked great. Burned up a little faster than I expected but made really nice smoke.

I was so happy to finally get an AMNPS that I'm afraid thst washing it never even crossed my mind. Must have been OK since I'm still here.
