I have a vertical smoker and I have a very hard time keeping the temp regulated. Does anyone have any sugestions?

Store bought or home made... Is it a reverse flow or once through...
Pictures of the controls you have would help...

It really does depend on what kind of smoker it is...gas, electric, charcoal, home-made, offset, etc. Provide us with more information (and pictures if you can) and the folks here will be more than eager to help.

It's an offset vertical wood smoker. I bought it at Academy. When I get home I will take some pics and post them.

It's a outdoor gourmet wood smoker from academy. It has no way to direct the heat. It's about 24''x48" vertical with the wood box on the side. Standard vent in wood box and just a stack at the top.

It appears, from the loss of paint, the FireBox (FB) gets screaming hot and the Cook Chamber (CC) gets no heat...
Does the exhaust on the CC have an adjustment ?? Is there any adjustment to allow air in on the FB ?? Is there an opening between the FB and CC ?? Pictures of all the air controls would help....

There is only the standard airflow line on a regular charcoal pit.

I don't know what a "standard air flow line" is...
