Venting an electric smoker

Hi everyone. I am building an electric smoker my plan is to have it very air tight. My question is do I need to vent it?

What type of smoker? Yes it needs vented.

Yes it must have a vent. No airflow means no smoke cause you will smother the wood chunks.  Usually you will see one hole at the bottom of the unit and one at the top and or side,  What kind are you building?

I have a nice solid metal cabinet and a 1500 watt element. Going to insulate the cabinet and hook up a PID Control.
