I've been reading the post about vacuumsealersunlimited and saw that they have a (relatively) inexpensive chamber sealer...I was just wondering if any of you have experience wth either that product, or chamber sealers in general...?  Would it be worth the money for a home chef to have (I thought it might come in handy for sous vide) or would a smaller suction device serve better?

TIA!

ScC, morning....  Compare the prices of chamber bags vs. vac bags..... I go through about 150 bags a year.... If I had a chamber system, the bags would have paid for the difference in machines....  I grind my own burger and pack in 1 lb. pkgs..  breakfast sausage I grind also from butts... the primals I buy for cutting my steaks etc. get bagged...  It really adds up... then there's the bacon, andouille etc.... Once you have a good machine, you can find more uses for it than you can imagine.....

I have one of the original Tillia/FoodSaver machines from the 80's... It was one of the machines made in Italy and it is still kicking....

If you purchase anything from VSU there is a discount code that members here get a discount... .You can call Lisa B. and talk to her.... She is a good person and will help you if you have any specific question about what she sells.....

If you get it, do a demo and show pictures..... we love pics......   Dave

I'm really thinking that chamber one might be my next sealer as was said the cost of the bags would make up the difference in price if you use it a lot

thanks for the info guys...Dave, you read my mind...between sous vide and primal storage I go through a lot of bags...I figured not only would it be cheaper in the long run, but the ability to seal liquids would come in handy too!

I'll get with Lisa at VSU and let you know what I decide...
