Made a trip south to Trader Joe's, HEB and Totalwine. Got home and garage door open while I bring things in. I come out to put car in garage and there sits the Vevor. Went to pick it up and WOW is that heavy! Had to go get dolly. I over filled pump and had to drain some. Look like oil mist or smoke while running. I guess from spilling a little? I will see if goes away after use.

Albertson had sale on Catfish and he promised me it was not enhanced like the frozen they have. They have a slight smell which is why I like to buy frozen but just dont want STPP in my fish. Hard to get crispy without over cooking it. I sealed up two bags. Boy these bags are harder to open. Sure going to be nice not having to freeze stuff before vacuum sealing. Worked great other than that oil mist. I will be looking for some sous vide recipes. I will update as I use it.

I know they say regular bags dont work but I tried on and it works? I did order some chamber bags but I have a ton of regular.

When you say "regular bags" do you mean textured bags like with the Foodsaver?

They'll work but I found sealing them to be a bit finicky. The line between a bad seal and a melted bag is thin. Especially if you're doing a lot of back to back runs. The seal bar retains some heat and the setting for a good seal quickly can start to melt the bags with subsequent runs.

But I use the textured bags for items too big to fit in the chamber. Put the opening of the bag over the seal bar with the food outside the chamber. Close the lid on the bag and let 'er rip! Might need to increase the vac time a bit but it works great once you dial it in.

Congrats, Don't over look freezing things then vac , cut bags so you can open take a few pieces out and then reseal, you pile it all in there your going to have to thaw it all.

As much stuff as I vac seal, I've been eyeing up chamber vacs for a while since the bags are cheap and you don't need to pre-freeze anything to keep any liquid from messing up the seal like with traditional vac sealers. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, though.

Brian good call on the chamber vac. We are packing a lot of items we use. It is a game changer. I am able to pack large items the conventional way by hanging the bag over the front and letting it droop down. Something they didn't advertise, but I caught on a video somewhere. Just have to support weight and use textured bags.
Points 👍

Well I sealed up some chicken wings and hamburger this morning. Man this thing works great! Just having hard time getting the bags open. Just got to make sure hands are dry.

Which model is that?

I’m torn on this the vevor is bigger and heavier 17.5” vs 10” 1 year warranty vs 2 yr along with parts and servive after the warranty is up not to mention it takes up less space
That is a nice looking sealer. I buy most my bags from that company. You might make a new thread with unit to get more options on it. I dont know much about these things but love the way they work. I all ready love mine. Vacuumed some raw marinaded chicken thighs last night and could never of done that without freezing first with my foodsaver.

Man I telling you at that price just do it! I done several wet things all ready and man is that nice! I have your hot links on deck. Got everything now just got to do it. I got one of those .97 lb butts from Albertson. I just going to use my buddy's mom recipe of soy and water in a dutch oven at 325. Than make gravy with liquid and mix back in pork. Good stuff.
