Vaccum sealer opinion...

Has anyone had one of these and if so, how are they?

It will only get occasional use so I don't think I need a heavy duty machine.  I just need something to seal the occasional smoked cheese and pork leftovers.

We use ours all the time when I smoke I make a bunch and vac pac it and freeze it includung bill's potatoes.

I have the v2244 which is similar to this one and I really like it. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that I've read can cause problems. Mine's manual. Those bags and rolls are outstanding.

I am probably going to feel dumb when I get the answer but what are the two grey plastic pieces in the following pic used for?

I tried searches as well.  I thought it had something to do with the bags but there is not anywhere on the sealer itself to put them.  Oh well, sealer works great!
