Ok when I was at the store today with the fam, a can of spam caught my eye and I thought it was high time the boy got to experience the Hawaiian tradition!

So decided to have the “can” share the copper pot with the a beef roast that was being prepped for dip sammis

Ok I’m really surprised the smoking process worked nicely. The boy and wife even tried a sample in its sliced form! These Hawaiian slices will be used for a spam & egg breakfast to usher in the cursed time change!

Looks good enuff to eat lol, try the turkey, its my favorite at the moment

Spam and eggs....mmmmmm.
Now, that is a breakfast of champions.
. Right every one should try it at least once!

I still like Spam every now and then. Amazing how many flavors they have now.
Yea, I was surprised to see flavors, actually had to hunt for the original.

this was and experiment for the boy as he has never had it before but may have try the turkey....

Not a big fan of Spam, but yours looks mighty tasty!

Spam is a novelty item for sure, I can’t each much plain that is for sure. The smoking really helped it be toned down though!

Thanks for the likes, mike, tropics, jabiru, pc, jcam, hawg, & secondhand! I thought I might get laughed off the forum posting smoked spam but there must be a hidden addiction...lol

Nice! Your spice choice sounds good and the smoke just adds flavor.
My wife and I grew up with Spam in the Pantry. Dad and I will eat cold sandwiches or Spam Western Omelettes.
My wife, and now our kids, like it sliced, Fried crisp and served with Kraft Mac n Cheese.
I saw a video on Youtube, comparing Spam to Walmart's Great Value version. We gave it a try. The Great Value is a bit chunkier, slightly less Salty but otherwise identical in flavor. And it's a couple of Dollars Cheaper. Good stuff...JJ

We used to have it while camping when I was a kid, brings back fond memories...

Thanks Civil.

John, yea it is a trip down memory lane for sure! Opening up a can is spam as a scout in the back country was living like a king!

The mixture in the cast iron. Started with the onion, then spam, then spuds, then shrooms, then bacon, and finally cheese. Each has a progressive sear before the other was added...

I have to say this plate was just down right yummy!!!!

The whole family participated as well, the boy said hey that is pretty good!

Thanks for joining the trip down memory lane!!! This presentation is how those childhood memories should be retold to our own kids and friends!

Now that's a proper Breakfast!...JJ

I also wanted to share the story of the cast iron that was used.....it was an older 12 in lodge that someone tossed aside for the trash cause it was all rusted and nasty as they said...I gladly said I would take it off their hands for them and once at home it only took about 20 or so minutes and it was all sanded down and polished smooth and in the pellet grill at 550 degrees being re-seasoned again.....

That was many years ago and I suspect it will last the rest of my life time and my boys life time as he as already spoken for it (and others) when I pass....

SecondHandSmoker and Smokin' in AZ thanks for the Likes! They are much appreciated!

LOL, Spam is a love...no love thing for sure.....but I can say it was really good in the skillet! One could always switch out the spam for some pork belly!!! Man that would be good!
