I am going to try this:

My smoker has a door for inserting chips.
I thought maybe I would leave the door on but prop it open. Just so I don't possibly damage it and not get it back on if I don't like the set up.

I'll be looking around for an old BBQ vent so I can have adjustable airflow, but until then I'm trying to come up with an idea for airflow that will be temporary. Probably drill a hole were the vent will go when I find one.

Any ideas?

Also, without tubing will there be more "dirty smoke" that may be undesirable?

I have it attached.

Thinking that putting the vent on the bottom might be a good idea for airflow.

I decided to put the vent on the lid of the ammo box to make it more convenient.

I'm using a short tube as the smoke source.

Haven't cook anything yet.

The smoker does fill up with smoke just propping open the chip door.

There is also smoke coming out of the vent that I put on the ammo box. So air must be coming in from somewhere else.

It may work well enough as is, but I am thinking of possible modifications.

My thought is to move the vent where it will be under the smoke source.

Put some lava lock tape on the ammo box where it sits against the smoker.

This smoker does not have vents (see pic) Someone mentioned that maybe putting some holes up top in the back. I think that it is designed to have smoke come through the door seams to keep it inexpensive.

And possibly add some holes in the top back and seal the door with lava lock type tape.
