Thanks for all the advice..after the tri tips from safeway and some chicken breasts I got frozen I am gonna start going to the local butchers shop closest to me.
TTs are scarce around here - so I can't offer any cooking suggestions, but I seem to remember a while back a few folks were smoking them like they would a brisket. They seemed to be a big hit on the forum. .
My wife loves to use the whole tri-tip after it is smoked to 110 deg, she then cubes it up and puts it in beef barley soup, really good. I am lucky here, my local restaurant depot always stocks tri-tip other wise there is none around us.
