Now I'm smokerless for the next two weeks while Yoder builds my unit. I have no idea what I'm going to do, I could starve.
I seen that and have all the items in my cart so far on Amazon. I'm still trying to locate the 3' rod though. I figured it would be easiest to do this upgrade as the thing gets off the skid instead of doing it later once I've cooked on it a bit.
Ahh, okay, so the rod isn't there already with the factory wheels, I have to add that.I used a 1/2inch x3 ft rod purchased at a big box store, for the axel.
reuse the pin and washer on the inside of the wheel. Purchase 3 0r 4 frnder washers to take up the slack
on the outside of the wheel .
Drill a 1/8th hole in one end about 1/2 inch from the end.
drill another 1/8th inch hole in the other end, then trim.
Yes, With the factory wheels the axels are only 6 inches long.Ahh, okay, so the rod isn't there already with the factory wheels, I have to add that.
When you say trim, you mean the rod I assume, if so what tool did you use? Sorry, I'm an IT guy mostly, I can code and work computers all day but when it comes to tools and such I'm a bit unskilled.
I may even have a hack saw in the garage! LOLYes, With the factory wheels the axels are only 6 inches long.
The 1/2 inch rod I used for the axel is available at any big box store.
The rod is 3 ft long so obviously the axel does not need to be that long.
Using a hack saw, I trimmed the excess after fabricating the axel.
