Top Sirloin steak is nothing more than Picanha sliced into steaks. If done right they are very worthy for grilling. Fired up the kettle with homemade vortex and grilled some with a few 16ct shrimp, with a cold beer it’s what summer grilling is all about .

Plated with some Spanish rice and some sautéed veggies.

You beat me to it.
That looks KILL,er Eric!!!!
Did you check the temperature of the meat, it looks perfect.
I bought two picahna's yesterday, I've never cooked one. I just recently had it for the first time at my nephew's house.
The stuff was like butter, he cooked it hot and fast over oak wood coals on skewers. I'm gonna do the same either tomorrow or Friday. Gotta make up some chimi sauce the night before, that's a must do for me, I can drink the stuff I like it so much.

Awesome meal, Bruth'a!!!!

I'm gonna steal you prawn and mexican rice idea as well.

Love it all, except the yellow squash hiding in the back. :emoji_scream: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_scream:

Great looking meal! It's perfect... even left some soppin juice for bread under the steaks!

Looks great. Picanha is one of the better cuts of beef.
However, as I understand it, picanha is not necessarily the same as top sirloin. Picanha is the sirloin cap and usually still has the fat cap on one side. It is sometimes called coulette, especially when the fat is trimmed off. Top sirloin steaks are cut from the sirloin below the cap (picanha). You get only one picanha from a side of beef, but you get several sirloin steaks (or a big roast).

Technically you are correct, however Picanha is a Brazilian named cut. That is know in the US as a rump cap or sirloin cap. That said I have never seen any of those US cuts in supermarkets. Most often I see steaks sometimes labeled as “top sirloin” that have the fat cap and correct shape as Picanha steaks. I’ve never seen “Top rump steaks” or “sirloin cap steaks” on the label. Often times packages labeled top sirloin that have a fat cap are what you want. Most general sirloin cuts have virtually no fat cap, and sometimes butchers will trim the fat off the sirloin cap before or after carving into steaks.
