I have been running my modified ECB fir almost 5 years now (http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/91073/just-finished-my-ecb-mods) and I want to upgrade to something larger. I really like the idea of the pellet smoker (real wood and ease of use). I think I've decided on the Rec Tec, they have a 6 year warranty and by all account excellent customer service. I'm looking for some feedback or suggestions why or why not.

Thanks

I  currently own a Rec Tec and I am 100% satisfied.  Their service is second to none.  How many companies do you know that gives you a phone number good 24/7?  My Rec Tec will maintain it's temp in all types of weather,  I've smoke in the rain and wind.  Good luck

I also own a RT...agree with Richard on all counts. I'm very happy with it. There are lots of really well built pellet cookers out there these days, but at the price point of around 1K, the RT is hard to beat for value and performance.

Others to check out at a comparable price point are Green Mtn Grills and Louisiana Grills. For a little more money, Yoder, Blazin Grill Works, and FE PG500 are very nice units. For still more money, there's MAK Grills and Memphis Grills...those are out of my price range but vey nice.

I'm looking real hard at the Green Mountain. I have a dealer just down the street and it would be nice to keep the $ in the local economy.

Then I find out I can get pellets directly from CookinPellets way cheaper than on line and pick them up directly from the company. I just need to drive 40 miles.

I know there's a lot of great pellet smokers out there.... I have a GMG DB & love it ! Spot on temp control in 5* increments from 150-500* ! Just my .02 ! Good luck on your decision !

I picked up my Green Mountain DB today. Looks great, but since it is -11 outside I will wait to use it.
