I am sooooo sick of wasting money. Around here a good fireplace grade runs $75 and up. I bought a new one last season and it is scrap already. Melted most of it to nothing. So I decided to make one this weekend. Started after work on Saturday and finished around 3 oclock this afternoon.

Here is a link to the project.

I sure hope that this one lasts more than one season.
This was a fun project. Maybe I'll start making custom grades on the side. LOL.

Nice Job, Looks like it should hold up...

If you were around here I could get you a bunch of grating like that for free...

I used to haul for a company that makes grates and they would let me in their scrape pile when I needed something.

In fact I am going to be hitting them up for some in the near future...

Now that ones not gonna burn up anytime soon. You built it too last for sure.

Thats awesome Andy. Ours melts every year as well. That sucker will last. Nice job.

You might have a possible future on your hands ... designing custom grates for cookers or outdoor fireplaces and such. The pics were great and it's made me want to look into finding some welding classes in the area.
