I was in college in 1972 and that summer I worked for Chapman Construction, erecting steel electric transmission towers, that were 120 to 160 foot tall.

I don't recall the heat bothering me at all at 20 yo and skinny as a rail. I had A/C in my 1964 Chevelle, but did not use it cause it dragged down the 327 cu in engine too much.

I've gotten soft.

I just used the historical weather feature at Weather Underground to look at August 1972, doesn't look any different from August 2025. Except it did not rain, at all, in 1972. That's why I don't recall missing a day.

We worked 7 days a week, 11 hours a day. I made $2.50 an hour, time and 1/2 OT, and double for Sunday. Did not think the company would have enough money to pay me.

We almost didn't get rain today. Then a pop up hit and it rained for about 10 minutes. 45 minutes later it rained twice as hard (sideways huge drops) for another 15 minutes.

Completely nuts this year.
Started dry and hot. We had August 90's in June which is the wrong time as wheat doesn't like it hot during bloom.

Humidity has been completely nuts this summer. Takes most of the day to dry out the lawn from all the dew so that you can even mow.
Seems like that fires up storms about every other night also. Mosquitos have just gone bananas lately. Can't take it out in the garden.

This pop up rains is getting old. We've had over 6" in the past couple of weeks. Some areas are over a foot.
Now that we're getting some heat the blood suckers have popped.
I have to take advantage of time off the farm. Yesterday, I mowed the yard even with the rains. Had to clean out the mower deck 3 times to finish.

Nothing too unusual in the Seattle area. It's been fairly dry with temps mostly in the 60's & 70's. Had a week where it almost hit 90°, but last Friday in Everett it was 65°, raining, and humidity was still 86%. Weird.

I think our triple digit temps are behind us. Low 90's for next week.
I do prefer them to single digit temps.

Some showers showed up yesterday afternoon and the heat wave appears to have broken. Low here was in the 70's last nite and a forecast of *only* 92 for today - and some highs in the 70's forecast for next week.

Afternoon all!
I know the weather has been crazy for most parts of the USA. And the world. But upstate NY is usually an area that has mild summers. With a few 90 degree days. The last couple of years? HOT!!!!
This spring I bought a portable AC for the RV to keep it comfortable on trips. How are you all doing this summer?

Here in South Central Texas (New Braunfels/San Antonio) it has not been as hot this year as it was last year. I think we only peaked over 101* several times but humidity has been a bummer making it feal so darn hot. I work security at a Six Flags waterpark and we have had several cases of heat exhaustion of both guests and associates. We take heat breaks as needed evert hour. One more month of this and we are out of the woods and will cool down some hopefully. Hope you survive too Steve.
