Hello all I'm still alive and some what well. As some of you know I have been having problems breathing after 34 years of smoking cigarettes. Well it has finally caught up we me after 12 years since we quit smoking. So we are working on everything that we can do with getting my lungs better or at least the best that they can be. I have been on steroids causing me to blow up in weight. I have gained almost a hundred pound since last September. We have sent all the paper work to Mayo Clinic here in Jacksonville for a possible lung transplant. Well we heard back from them and they are now saying that I'm a good candidate for a trans plant. But ................isn't there always a butt. Well now they want me to lose the 100 lbs that I have gained to breathe and they will put me on the list. That's seems pretty funny that one doctor (Dr Okie I call him okie dokie) says what do I want..........to breathe and gain weight or be skinny like I was. You can imagine which one I chose. So now I'm trying to diet with some success. We are doing the carb diet so I can still eat red meat and smoked meat too. Speaking of that I found at Publix's the first Tri-Tip in the state of Florida. Boy I smoked it and it is a great tasting hunk of meat. Sometimes when you can't get something it always taste better when you do get it.

Hey Mark

Sorry to hear you are going through such a tough time. Good luck with the diet - Have fun with that TriTip

Dang Mark! Hope it turns out alright for you, brother.

I'm an ex-smoker myself, and since starting 32 years ago, I've only quit for 4 years total, until late last fall when I finally found an a reliable brand of alternative (ecigs). I can't kick the habit completely, but at least I don't breathe all the garbage I was sucking up from tobacco.

Sounds like you may at least have a second chance though...that's great news! Keep your chin up and stick to the diet. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, buddy!

Enjoy the tri-tip!

Eric

Yes Joe it might be the only diet that I think I could maintain for a length of time. I do however have some pretty good ambition to get the weight off too.

Sorry to hear about your health probs bro. Quitting smoking and having to diet? Sounds like getting it with both barrells!  Hope you get better!  Now,..... you got a tri-tip for $18.00 and change? Around these parts a flat runs upward of $25.00 and a tri-tip is $35.00 to $40.00  At that price I'd buy a case of them!
