Does anyone know of a good way to install a thermometer on a 22" weber kettle grill?

I would get one that's adjustable/calibratable and has about a 2" long stem... Drill a hole in the lid by the handle... Slide it in there... Then use a remote thermometer to calibrate/adjust the lid thermometer to what the remote is reading at grate level...
Thanks Keith! I kinda had the same idea, just wasn't sure if there was a specific kit for doing this or not. I was a little worried about the thermometer wanting to fall our every time I take the lid off, but I did find one on Amazon that has a wing nut on the bottom side of the lid to keep that from happening, so I think I'll go for that one.
Is this an old kettle that doesn't have a lid therm ?
Not that old, I bought it from Lowe’s maybe 2 years ago. It is the original kettle, which does not have the lid therm. I bought it cuz it was cheaper lol
Use a wireless. There are several to choose from. I have the thermoworks rfx. Meater, fireboard, therm pro, and inkbird are others of various quality and accuracy.
Is there a wireless that you can let mounted in the lid?
You would have to rig something to hang the holder from the lid. They have clips that clip into the grate.
I have a thermpro tp20, with 2 probes, so that would probably work.
OK . I didn't know they sold them without a therm .
You can buy the stock parts from Weber . Either with or without the bezel .
There's a few different types . One goes in the lid handle , or the ones that go in the lid .
Of the ones that go in the lid , some have a clocking tab that goes into a slot that keeps it from spinning . That way the top of the therm stays at 12:00 . So that one needs a hole , and a slot next to the hole .
As far as adding one that has a longer probe , you have to be careful with that because it can come in contact with the food on the grill . So keep that in mind .
Tel true is a good after market choice , because they are adjustable . They're not cheap though .
I personally have never had any issues with the stock Weber dial therms .
That's the same one I use and always dependable. Just hang the base on the kettle half handle.

Sorry I'm of no help here. I don't use a standalone thermometer anymore. I do use an insta-read to tell me what temp the meat is, and it also doubles as a probe. For checking tenderness. My 26" kettle came with a lid mount but I only use it to tell me when my temp is rising or falling.

you could get some of these high heat silicone gaskets, drill out the lid to correct size and install.

Those are a great idea, but do you want the thermometer in the lid or on the side of the kettle about a 1/2" above the grate. That would give you a more accurate temp reading.
