Maybe I shouldn't ask but the best date I can see for a start date is 2006. My question I see the forum is almost at 100,000 members where are they? I seem to see basely the same members on the forum most of the time. Has there ever been a check to see if some of these members are even alive? Like said maybe I shouldn't even ask but how accurate is that number.

Many recipes on this forum have outlived the authors...    We are so lucky to still have memories of those folks...

In February of 2006, Marianski was a member of the forum...

The wayback machine has history going back to Jan 3rd 2006

435 registered users with 3164 articles
Most users ever online was 34 on Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:11 pm

above details from the first time the wayback machine saw and backed up the site.

so I'm guessing the start was sometime back in 2005.

The site was started sometime in 04-05 as a yahoo Group. It got big enough that Jeff decided to take it to a actual forum site in mid 05. Then its grown to where it is now.

The number of members is correct but there are alot that read and dont post. There are a bunch that have left and started other forums. There are some that get what they need and leave.

But we are lucky that all of the knowledge is kept for all to use and will be here for many years to come.

I don't know when it started. I don't know how many folks are here. I don't even know what number I am. I just know that I like it here and I don't intend to go anywhere (unless they ask me to). And, I keep posting 'cause I'm one of the ones that's alive.

Thanks a lot, Jeff and all of the other admin and mods. Joe. :yahoo:

No doubt there is a log of invaluable information that many hopes never gets loss me for one. The way the sight is put in catalog order for the various categories is the best and easy for anyone to follow. A amount of credit to those that put the time and effort into doing all this is immeasurable. That is how I found the sight I was seeking some information and got a reply from someone on this sight and I joined and have never looked back.

Is there any plans for a big Horas for that 100,000 member?

I was looking at smoker smokehouse builds and was directed to this site, Looked around got a few ideas and jotted down the name. In my search for more info I kept coming back here and I decided to join. It was one of the better choices I have made as for as I am concerned. The amount of knowledge is overwhelming, Which is a great thing. All you have to do is search it and there it is. Becoming an active reader and participant has been great, I am usually not that involved in these things. The people here have been amazing and helpful. The site is by far the best in its field and has been very easy to use and maneuver around in it. Kudos to all who started, built and maintained this site for the benefit of all of us and it's users in the past.

Very well said, Mr. Black

I love this site!! Without this site I would of wasted a lot of meat and time and maybe even caught fire or ruined my smokers.
There is a lot of knowledge in this forum and many thanks to the people who help when some one has problems or questions.
This is one group that loves to help no matter what it is.

Joe I think your member 94460. If you quote yourself it shows your member number. Just in case you or somebody wanted to know.
