Ok, I am sorry. I know this is going to break some kind of decorum in the forum, but I have to ask this question.....If I were to want to spend about 300.00 maybe less maybe more...which way do I go? wood? charcoal? electric? Gas? combo? verticle? side by side? got a sort of newbie here who has a BSnP and is not happy...Which way do I go? I want Smoked Meat!!! I need help... Mike

Mike propane and electric are the easiest to use I think.

I would look hard at an MES. I have a SmokinTex which is close to an MES. The smoker is very forgiving

I have a Cookshack Smokette, similar to Scar's Smokin' Tex.  New they're darn pricey; don't forget to check out Craigslist, that's where I got mine. I have to cook on a deck, and live on the wet side of washington. Electric is best for me right now. How much space do you have? How much time do you have?  If I could have anything and had a ton of space I'd have a WSM, a Lang and a La Caja China, at the least! but I'd still keep and use the cookshack!

Thanks. I think if I went Propane that I would convert it to natural gas....But I will consider both..thanks...mike

Hi. Normally, I cook a tri tip, brisket, ribs and or chicken. I have not yet smoked turkey or any fish. Yet I want to. I had success last weekend for all who are following. I reached a temp of 254F and I nearly fell over....lol...My ribs were fall off the bone and the tritip was not in existence for long..it was gobbled up. So thanks to all. I am watching for a sale to get either the MES or the WSM to compliment my tools.   MIke from vegas...111 today...OUCH!!!
