I'm smoking 2 butts in my recently purchased MES. My first time doing butts in it. One has stalled @158*, the other @150*... for over 2 hours now!!

Is this usual in the MES? Never had em stall this long before in my ECB. Thanks in advance for any input.

I was smoking 2 stramis last week and hit the "dreaded stall" for 2 hours. It just stuck at 155 and would not move. Then 'Bingo" it finally moved. As Yoda would say,"Patience my son". No one has come up with an answer for the stall. It doesn't happen in your oven (that you know of). Another one of the mysteries of smoking. Accept it and have another beer or two. May the thin blue smoke be with you!

There is no answer for the dreaded stall but patience. You can do nothing but wait. It's really hard but go change the oil in all your cars and trucks. But you have to wait it out.

Its got nothing to do with your MES its just the butt doing its wonderful work. All of the tissues are breaking down and making it nice and juicy and tender. There is no way to know how long it will stall. Two butts the same weight can be totally different. Just pour another cold one or 6 and wait it out. That is why you always plan for lots of extra time if you are cooking for supper that day. Good luck. It will turn out great!

Thanks guys, I was starting to get worried. They have been on the smoker since 6a.m.

Rule of thumb, always have some from the last smoke to munch on while waiting on the stall.

I have taken some pics for qview, waiting for finished product before I take more pics to post them all.

I had one go for almost 3 hours and then it climbed the rest of the way in a total of 13 hrs. The final result is worth the wait. Patience and a cold beverage.

Yup patience is the key. I had 2 butts go for a total of 19 hours one time. They came out great though!!
