When I was a young man, I didn't like optics. Where I hunted, a hundred yards was a LOOOONNGGGGGG way, and plinking plates and balloons with my 10-22's or even any of my 7.62 rifles with iron sights was just more..... fun - even at a hundred yards. Had to be quick on rabbits and tree rats too.

Now that I'm old, I can't even see a plate or a balloon at a hundred yards, so optics it is.

Pistol - I don't aim in the traditional sense of the word. I point and shoot and as long as it hits within a foot of what I'm pointing at within 30 feet - I'm happy (with my carry guns). I'm one of those cats who can make steel sing but to get a good grouping is just something I never cared about. My 92 is about the only exception to that rule. I love my 92 and will definitely see just how good I can be with it, but I rarely carry it. A 92 is a hoss, even now that I can open carry. I did it a few times but it's mighty uncomfortable to drive with that on my side.

To the fella who winter carries a Super Redhawk - damn on ya son. Good gun but that's also a lotta metal to lug around.
LOL Yeah, the Super Alaskan is only in .44 but it's in a craft paddle holster and doesn't really conceal well. I usually only carry it when I go fishing and hunting. My go to for concealed carry now is the 3 in XD in short and weak.

Has anyone gotten anything from Bond Arms

Nope but love their disclaimer about California lol

Using these black aces tactical rifled slugs in mine right now. Rip shoulder lolView attachment 510450
Slugs are ok, but 00 buck puts nine 30 cal pellets in a nice spread for maximum knockdown. Add a second round per fed regulations and No witness no defense.
Go away from the fancy names and the prices drop.
Shotgun reloads are the easiest to save money for your equipment and materials cost.
Just a few… I’ll post some more later…

6.5 Creedmoor… Only had for a couple years… has taken 5 elk in 2 years… not a bad start for a rifle! Last year, dropped a cow elk at 400 yards!
That is impressive for a 25 cal round.
I fired a Carcano many years ago and that is a underwhelming 6.5 round. It is the Italian infamous firearm, that I could nowhere get off 3 rounds in 5 seconds and with the supposed accuracy required. Carcano effectively killed the 6.5 market until later makers improved the cartridge.

Those are my home defense rounds and they aren't crazy expensive. I'd rather leave one huge hole on an intruder. We don't use these for target practice but they do pack a punch at 1640 feet per second

Too be honest I have grown very fond of the Springfield XD series. I run the 5 inch tactical at work and I use the 3 inch concealed. I also have a .357 sig barrel that drops in to both :<). That little round is pretty nice I am a fan. Now if only I lived in a free state and could have decent double stacks :<(.

Thanks, being matched for caliber it makes for a really nice combo.
The bullet drops are more than accurate enough for minute of man out to 400 yards.
And that particular model (TA-C-400235) is about three years old and actually discontinued.
I got an rz 1000 reticle from Zeiss for my Savage. I have to say you need to do some ammo selection, logging in a range book and practice but some of those matched scopes really let the weapon shine at long range. I shoot that Savage at 1000 yards here at sac valley and that scope makes the difference in hitting paper and not hitting it.
