Well today I'm brining and pumping the the ham for Thanksgiving.

What are you all going to do this year?

Home cured?
Precooked?
Don't care?

I like to cure my own!

Deep fried turkey wasn't a choice???

I start with a precooked, and cook it some more. Pump it full of Apple juice, or Pineapple juice,..wrap it up in foil, and cook it loow, and sloow. Just under 212 degrees for 24 hours, over Mulberry wood. Sliced up for dinner, and leftovers (if there is any) get pulled for sammys later.

I marked pre-cooked, but I usually get a shank portion ham (ready to cook) since that wasn't an option, I just picked one. I don't cure it, I just smoke it til it's fully cooked.

Ummm, yeah. Had to say I don't care. But only cause I still believe in turkey for Thanksgiving. If I host Thanksgiving this year, I'm smoking one, and frying the other. Plus I plan on smoking some Stuffing with the bird if ist's here.

Most people have ham and turkey for Thanksgiving.
This thread is for the ham not the turkey!

The don't care was a joke!

Got a 15 lb Ham that my friend at the local butcher shop is going to Pump and Tumble for me then Ill smoke it. Also have 5 14lb Turkeys to do along with some Whole breasts. Cant Wait to fire up the beast.

Didn't read it right. Thought is was for a turkey, not ham. I voted home cured, but you an subtract a vote for that one. Smokin a "forestbird" and brining it.

I have no idea what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving. I do know that I will have company for a few days and we will be deer hunting.
If I do decide to smoke a ham, it will be a home raised, home cured one.

I'm just not sure if I will be smoking a ham, turkey, venison, goose, duck or what.....can't decide, fried turkey sounds good too....

Guess I better get busy and decide, Thanksgiving is getting closer!

Sometimes you have to give in to the powers that be.
You got 364 other days to smoke.

backlash......how do you expect any of that mulberry to enter the ham if its wrappedn in foil?

GOT to be a trick to it......hehehe....... :)

I am sure that I will do as I have done in the past. Buy a whole uncooked ham. I will then score it and insert cloves then place the ham into my 17" deep MACA Dutch oven to which I will add fruit cocktail, cherries, pineapple, brown sugar, molasses, and beer. It will be cooked over a wood fire until done.

Last week I cooked this one on my offset. It was mighty tasty.
