My Dad served in WW2 on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. He never told us kids much of what happened. He became known to us as FFF, Fat Fearless Father!

Serving is kind of a family tradition that goes back to the Civil War on my dad's side. My grandfather (mom's dad) served in WWI (Army). An uncle (mom's brother) served in WWII (Army), as did my wife's father (Navy). My dad served in Korea (Navy). An uncle (another of my mom's brothers)(Air Force) plus a cousin (mom's sister's son) served in Vietnam (Army). My BIL and I were Cold War guardians of peace (Navy), plus he flew in Desert Storm. All came home safe. Unfortunately, my cousin didn't last long.

I remember my family on Veteran's Day, and my cousin plus the friends I lost to flight accidents on Memorial Day.

Service was a privilege.

Up until Covid, I was meeting for Breakfast with about a dozen of my High School Classmates. There were 5 to 7 Vietnam War Vets in that group. Then Covid killed my Brother "Jim" and we broke up the Breakfast get-togethers. All were over 70 years, and some of us have had our share of Agent Orange exposure. Brother Jim died before Vax were easily available.
My Dad was a "Mule-skinner" in WW2.
My Brother was an MP in Qui Nhon, RVN (1965-66)
Myself---9th Inf Div, Dong Tam, RVN (1969).
