Have you tried the Jack Single Barrel? Hubby said he thinks it's "scotchy". I don't normally do Jack, if I would it would be the Gentleman Jack, reaalll smooth...I'm a wodka, diet tonic with a lemon kind of girl...an occasional cosmo or pomagranite (sp?) martini is the latest fad.
Anyone see Junior Johnson's new shine? He's gone legit and marketing shine, though not even close to what he and his daddy used to make down by the creek. It's 80 proof, not 100. Says it's a good bit smoother than straight shine also, won't "curl your toenails".
Back when I was in law enforcement down in the Ozarks we had some ATF agents present a seminar on recognizing illegal alcohol operations. They had a plastic gallon milk jug of Ozarks shine we sampled. WhoooooooWeeeeee! White Lightinin'!!!!!!!!! It leaches the plastic from the jug.
Sorry I missed this thread. Really hope that there is no truth to this JD out of water thing. While I have had my throat seared by white lightnin', it tasted a lot like finger nail polish remover.
Jack over ice is my favorite.....say it ain't so Shell!
Give me straight Kentucky bourbon anyday! Knob Creek, Makers Mark, oh and the occasional birthday bottle of some Booker Noe. Ummmmm um umm! Now that is the stuff!
Not a "farce". Just not correct reporting. Though the spring flow was down about a third they still had way more water than was needed to produce their product. They just stopped using the spring water for cleaning purposes and other things not related directly to making JD whiskey, something they should have done years ago. The JD rep said if the spring "should dry up" they most likely would stop making JD. A "what if" thrown at him by the sensationalistic media person doing the piece. Crap like that is pounced on immediately and blown way out of proportion. Typical internet.
