Hello to all and Thankful to all of our Vets, and their families, this Memorial Day Weekend.

The used pit i just bought, i didn't even look at the 3 temp gauges actual readings. Well, they're 200, 170, 150. The one in the pic is in the AC now and it's reading 190. I sunk all the probes into ice cold water and all temps went down to about 100. Then right thereafter, all the temps went back to the original incorrect readings.

Since these are not adjustable, do you guys have some recommendations on good value based temp gauges?

Thank you very much,
TJ

Are you sure they are not adjustable? is there a nut on the back at the base of the stem? put a wrench on it and turn the outer part.

Yes, no nut. I cannot even find any make or model info either. Here's the back/ solid sheet metal. Thanks

Looks like it adjustable .
Slotted shaft and a nut . Screwdriver in the slot , wrench on the nut .
Unless I'm seeing something wrong .

I brought this up on my phone so I could blow up the picture .
Looks to me like the pin holding the needle has some corrosion on it . Probably condensation or it got water in it from sitting outside .
Maybe see if you can get the back open . Take that nut off . Slowly and see what's in there .

Thanks again chop. I initially tried moving the shaft w flathead screwdiver and nothing doing. It was left outside in heat, cold & rain. I'll try again, maybe stick it in my vice and try. Nothing to lose.

Yeah , but try to save it . Put some spray lube on it and let it sit a bit .
Hold the shaft and turn the nut . Don't rule out left handed threads either . Just go at it slow . Always nice to learn from fixing something in my book . If it breaks or can't be saved , like you say no loss .
From your description above , it sounds to me like the dial is hanging up . Like mentioned probably due to corrosion on the shaft .

The Tel_tru's are pricey , but I thought you wanted adjustable .
I get Old country dial therms at Academy sports . They work good , and they match my Signals remote . About 10 bucks .

Perfect. Thank you

I'm actually firing her up as we speak. The two gauges on there now seem to be wking and following the brand new one that i just installed. I'll spray some PB Blaster on the shady/nut and let it sit all day. I'll post back my findings

Thanks again and I'll Ck out the academy brands too.

They may just need to see some heat and dry out . Let us know .

I should have said above , hold the shaft , break the nut loose , and adjust by turning the shaft and lock the nut down . Good luck .
