I have absolutley loved my ET-732 thermometer, but today I was cooking ribs and had my smoker around 230 and all of the sudden the temp on the thermometer dropped to like 165. It fluctuated around 165 to 180 and then after a few minutes jumped back up to 230. Would this be a faulty probe or could something be wrong with the transmitter?

Did you happen to have your probe beneath the ribs? It almost sounds like some juice dripped on it causing the temp to drop and then heated back up to normal.

I  knew I had a bad probe when the temps jumped from normal, to really high, to zero and on and on.  I replaced the probe with a high heat probe and all is well again.

Naw, its behind the ribs on the top rack. I double checked and nothing is touching the probe. I got the probe wire running through the vent slots and the transmitter is haging on a fence behind the smoker
