Since I had the Old ECB out anyway from last nights Ribeye's decided to do some Hamburgers and Sweet Taters

My Old ECB  You can see the Mods

Hamburger Patties and Sweet Taters

Damper Wide open

First Flip

Just before I took them up,  Hickory chunks started burning

A little Cheddar Cheese   You can see all the smoke on the Sweet Taters They were

WAY TOO SMOKEY  not good at all.  Threw them in the trash. I usually cook them on

my gas grill and are fine. The charcoal and Hickory just overpowered the potatoes, Bitter.

Hamburgers were great, nice Hickory smoke flavor

Thanks for looking

Burgers look good and nice toys on the patio...JJ

Gary Burgers look great, what if you didn't slice the Sweet Taters,do you think that would work? Points

Hey thanks guys.  I kjnda thought the potatoes might take on too much smoke but decided to try it anyway

If I would have cooked them like the Ribeye's they would have been fine   Oh well

On the steaks I just used the bottom with a grate on top

Hamburgers and Taters I used it as a smoker

Burgers look Great, Gary!!

 Points.

I was hoping your Sweet Taters would turn out Great, because the only way I like Sweet Taters is "Sweet Potato Fries". Figured these would be similar.

Bear

Thanks John,   Next time you grill burgers try a sweet potato  a little EVOO  S&P  they actually cook pretty fast on a hot grill   Just not worth a flip smoked  !!

Nice job Gary!

The burgers look delicious!

Nice patio too!

Looks like there's room for a couple more smokers out there!

Thank's Al, I agree I want a vertical for sausage, Maybe when #2 son slows down enough we can whip one out

Gary

Nice looking humbugas, love them smoky.

To bad about them taters, how long were they in the smoke.

Maybe shorter time then onto the grill to finish?

On the smoker wrapping would be the way to go.  Grilled they are really great

Hey Gary.  Nice looking burgers.  Crying shame about the spuds.  I was really looking forward to the outcome.  I thought about it a few times, but never tried it.  I'm thinking smoke them for a while, then foil them to finish, might be worth a try.

Gary

Nice looking burgers!  Sorry to hear on the sweet potatoes... I like to toss mine in a bag with some olive oil, chipotle powder, and garlic before tossing in a HOT oven or right over the flame on the grill.  A slight dusting of corn starch seems to help getting a crisp.  Next time!
