Strike Three! You're out Sears!

I've been searching for quite awhile for a toolbox. Thought I found one but, unfortunately for me, it turned into a bad experience.

I purchased a Craftsman Pro Series 52" top and bottom toolbox which seems to be a fairly well built set. The issue was with delivery.... first attempt, bottom section severely damaged (ok, stuff happens). Second delivery....had to stop delivery person when I heard and seen my toolbox being dragged unprotected across the asphalt road. Day of third delivery got a call early in the morning prior to, asking if I want the toolbox on a pallet? Unreal! They took it off of pallet for inspection and now for some unknown reason they had to reorder and reschedule delivery for the fourth time. Seen store manager twice in one week regarding the situation, wasn't much help. Customer service from the Philippines, unacceptable. Very noisy background, poor phone connection and worse English. Phone calls not returned. The majority of my tools are Craftsman including woodworking power tools but, as of today, I am done with Sears.

Anyone have a recommendation for a home garage toolbox other than the Snapon, Cornwell, Matco, etc, or harbor freight, although from what I've seen and the prices out there, I just may end up with a HF toolbox.

Sounds like a bad experience all around.  I must have lucked out (about a decade ago) when I got my craftsman chest.

The Craftsman brand just isn't what it was when we were growing up. You're just going to have to go to a store, pick one out and take it home yourself. They're all made in Mexico or China now, anyway...
I believe Sears is in a "death spiral" from what I've read.

Lowes has very good tools and tool boxes. 

We use Kobalt  ( Lowes brand ) on the farm, out in the weather and everything. 

Lifetime warrenty too.

Probably a good thing, Sears is in the out again. Article the other day said they would be closing most stores by years end.

Craftsman was bought out by Stanley Black and Decker. Ace Hardware is now the main supplier of Craftsman tools.

If I was shopping for a roll around I'd probably start at Amazon, Harbor freight or Costco. They're all made by the same place...

Correct on all prior comments:  sounds like Sears could care less for your business since Craftsman has been purchased by Stanley/Black & Decker, not made like it was a few years ago, and Kobalt does put out good quality equipment.  Didn't know they were warranted for life--thanks, Adam, for making my next tool buying decision easier.

Some of the tools I have are husky brand from Home Depot not sure how big they are but they have roll around tool boxes.

I've got some Husky tools also, I think they have a lifetime warranty as well.  I haven't been to a Sears in years...kinda sad.

Made in the USA ... but hey call this guy overseas and try to deal with warranty / issues ... now days I'll take some overseas crap if there warranty program is in the US! Craftsman isn't what I use to be!

As mentioned numerous times, Craftsman is not what it use to be and that's the truth. 

Why is that? Probably for many reasons with the main being greed, it's never enough.

We'll see what Stanley does with the brand. Good luck!

I just recently became aware of this but don't know if it's nation wide or not.

Veterans get 5% off on sale items and 20% off on non sale items... for tools only.

Even though I'm not very happy with them at the moment, I wanted Veterans to be aware if they're not.

A lot of those Vet Discounts are only for those with Vet Medical cards.

Home Depot went to that, and only gives regular Vet's discounts on certain Holidays.

What I posted is information I got from my local Sears.

I don't have a veteran medical card and have received both discounts where applicable.

Home Depot has always given me their discount when I presented my ID. Although one day while shopping there, the "veteran" driver's license endorsement was no longer acceptable (new policy) do to some kind of fraud with endorsements. I now also have a veteran ID card which I've used at HD with no issues.

Update:

Today, 3/29/17 I received a return phone call from Sears "Headquarters" in Chicago.

(didn't sound much different from their customer service in the Philippines. Btw, I have nothing against the nation or its people)

Explained the situation. I was informed they're very sorry and it's being forwarded to their "highest escalation" and I'll receive a call from them within 24-48 Hrs.

I have gotten HD discount many times, just by showing my DD214, but I believe their actual rule says you have to have the card that shows you have a Service connected disability medical card. (I was not wounded)

However the people at the cash registers are often too embarrassed to not accept your DD214.

But then, like I said, There are certain Holidays when HD honors All Military Vets.

Different stores may vary---Ours is 10% Discount where applicable.

I've found our "Lowes" to be less hassle than HD.

But then it's not their money either.

The only thing that bothered me is the deceiving way they advertise their discount. If someone doesn't know better they go their with their DD214, and expect 10% on any day, just because they served.

However I have never heard of any employees getting in trouble for giving the discount to plain old Vets like me, who doesn't medically qualify.

LOL---I even got the 10% Discount over the phone, when I bought the Fridge I use for curing meat in my Basement.  By their rules, that wouldn't be allowed, but they allowed it.

I too have a lot of Craftsman Tools including  a large Tool Chest. I got it for Christmas 35 years ago but I picked it up.

My nephew had a similar problem with a new Fridge, after the second one they asked if he wanted another one

he said just come get this  one it will be sitting on the curb, He bought one elsewhere. Big breakdown in delivery and service.

No business is mandated to offer veterans a discount so, the ones that do, I/we appreciate their "kindness" and, I for one tend to shop there more often.Though, I'm sure they make up for it somewhere, like the person next in line. Maybe it's always been like this maybe not, but, to me it seems like these days commercial advertising for the most part has become a form of deception. I was never a "coupon clipper" type (not smart), so I didn't pay as close attention to advertising. I should have, there are a total of zero money trees in my backyard. Anywho 

No worries, hijack all you want. I seem to be doing a pretty good job all by myself
