I too have a lot of Craftsman Tools including  a large Tool Chest. I got it for Christmas 35 years ago but I picked it up.

My nephew had a similar problem with a new Fridge, after the second one they asked if he wanted another one

he said just come get this  one it will be sitting on the curb, He bought one elsewhere. Big breakdown in delivery and service.

Gary
My Craftsman tool chest combo is about 24 years old, kind of small, somewhat beat up and wasn't the greatest thing brand new with no ball bearing slides. Have another old Craftsman standard metal toolbox and a HF tool cart. So I kind of needed/wanted to upgrade. This delivery fiasco has been very disappointing and frustrating. I know I said as of the other day I was done with Sears but, (always a but, lol) they did call today so I'll see where this goes if anywhere. I can always pick back up my complaining, I'm sure you all are looking forward to that

BTW, if anyone is interested HF's red tool cart which I've seen as low as $159.99 is a great buy if you're in need of something like it. Couple guys at work for the past five years or so have been using it on a daily basis, in the case of one, abusing it and they've held up well so far. They're a pretty solid tool cart for the money. Even their smaller black carts held up well.

Gary, I guess it's hard to find good help these days.

On the other hand, these delivery guys do some pretty hard physical work and probably don't make much more than minimum wage. So I'm not surprised if some don't care about the quality of their work. Pay them "well" and some still might not care, meanwhile the customer pays for it twice.

 lol, I'm done.

....sorry, I have to get this out of my system also

The "new" Craftsman Pro Series come in three sizes, I think 33" 41" and 52" wide.

When I made my purchase they only had the two smaller versions on display. The first time I went back after my purchase and first delivery attempt to talk with the manager, while waiting for him and kind of looking around I noticed they had the 52" on display also. I walked up to it and started "kicking the tires".... the upper section was wobbling back and forth a good 1.5" with just a light touch. So later I brought to the managers attention thinking it may help in preventing the loss of potential sales. He started looking at it and finally says it was probably just put together wrong and he'll have it taken care of. Three weeks later it was still the same way.... I didn't say a word, thinking OK whatever, must not be a big deal.

Again, it's hard to find good help.

Or, I guess it's also possible that I'm getting old and cranky.

The first time I laid eyes on this toolbox set, SEARS was advertising them for....
Bottom section - $ 999.99 ON SALE!
Top section - $ 599.99  ON SALE!

Approximately 1.5 to 2 weeks later I made the purchase.
Still ON SALE!
Bottom section - $ 1049.99
Top section - $ 649.99

In my experience at other retail stores, when something goes on sale, the price goes down.

I didn't read any of the details but, just seen the other day that Harbor Freight just settled a lawsuit that had something to do with their deceptive advertising.

Original purchase: As I'm paying for said items, I ask the person at the register if Sears offers veteran discount? "Yes they do.... 5% off on sale items and 20% off on non-sale items, tools and some home & garden only".

To make a VERY LONG and very stressful story short (trust me, you don't want to hear all the details), I thought everything was worked out over the phone. So today I stop at the store to repurchase said toolbox set. Three days ago I noticed online that they dropped the price of each section $ 49.99. Two days ago, I noticed online they dropped the price down another $ 49.99 per section. In total $ 200.00 less than what I originally paid.

The agreement "we" had over the phone was....

- Repurchase for latest price
- 10% off
- and the $ 69.99 delivery waived

Same person at the register as during the original purchase.
He starts ringing up everything again and I say to him, don't forget the veteran discount. He says oh, sorry, we can't do that, your're already getting 10% off. I say yes, for the hell you guys put me through for the past 5 weeks. He calls for the manager. This jackwagon won't even come out of his office. He sends someone else out to blow smoke up my ... Blah,blah,blah... blah, blah, blah "I served 4 years in the Marines and I can't even get the veteran discount". I didn't want the "register guy" to get in trouble for giving me the 5% discount the first time, so I said OK. How about making it 15% then instead of the 10%? Sorry sir, blah, blah, blah. I walked out for the final time. AND, it's still not over because I have to wait until Monday for them to pick up the crap they delivered March 7th and also for them to credit my account....naturally 7-10 business days. There use to be a saying in the Marine Corps and it rhymes with, what a "clusterpuck"

I get home and check the mail...
Some bills, some junk and HARBOR FREIGHT'S ad....

72", 18 drawer Industrial Roller Cabinet ON SALE!

$999.99 <----- Very rare!

Guess where I'm going tomorrow?

Brian, thanks for posting the toolbox pics!

I've looked at both of them in person before, but at the time was still undecided, so I kept on looking.

After work today I stopped by HD and looked again.

Tomorrow I'm buying the 52" Husky.

Good call. Looking at the specs it seemed better then when I saw it in store I was impressed with how it's built like a tank.

Finally, I got my toolbox!

Even though it was a bumpy road getting here, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

Just out model? Which brand?

I picked mine up also...rented a truck with lift-gate. It was a solo operation....overall wasn't too bad considering the shipping weight is 656 lbs.

Still sitting as shown in the picture..... Jr. will help me get it off of the platform tomorrow.

It is a Craftsman  not sure on the model I'll ask him

Probably the same one I purchased..... Craftsman "Pro Series". As far as I know that's their newest model.

If Sears would have properly delivered my purchase the first, second or even third time, I'd have that Craftsman toolbox.

I used to be an electrician, and I went through a lot of Craftsman screwdrivers and other tools. I'm not exactly sure when they quit making them in the USA, but I know the ones I got in the 80's & 90's were made in China. I only bought them for the lifetime warranty. It got to where I was coming in almost every month to replace screwdrivers or nut drivers. I'm sure they got sick of seeing me.

One of their stores was recently liquidating near me, however, so I went in to take a look at what was on sale. Picked up a screwdriver assortment and some nice clamps for 70% off.

I think this is the one he got ??   If this one has the soft close drawers ?
