Steak sauce

No steak sauce for me (no judgement on anyone else) I will use ketchup on cheese steak heroes. I do like my creamy horseradish sauce with some steaks ( like the 38 lbs of rib eyes I just picked up...lol).

Never on a good steak. But other cuts I will. HP, A1, Country Bobs, 57 are fine with me. Ann will drown her steak with it. Me, just as little bit. And on the side for dipping fries if I'm not using mayo for that.
And I'll use it for recipes. Or in marinade for jerky. And, gross out meter just pegged, I'll put it on bologna or salami sandwiches.
 
Nothing wrong with SS , I will have a little on the side every once in awhile, I would be more likely to put on a hamburger steak,

I love a1 I know people say a good steak doesn’t need steak sauce. I hear it every time I’m somewhere alerting a steak but I love a1

Local place , Andria's steak house bottles and sells their sauce . I can get it local , but they sell it on their website or Amazon .
It's not like an A-1 style of sauce . Works great for many things .

No sauce on my steaks unless it's some kind of butter I've flavored up. I absolutely despise A1 and don't want it around me. Just the smell makes everything taste like it to me.
I do like 57 on fries though.
 
Like most here I don't put it on my steaks unless its a reheated steak in the microwave.

My favorite is Heinz 57. If you ever eat at a Waffle House, some Hienz 57 on their hash browns is out of this world good!

I also don't mind some Lea & Perrins Bold steak sauce (I think its this one). I believe Bearcarver Bearcarver uses this and introduced me to it. Whichever one he uses is the one I like.

Finally, A1... Only good as a paperweight as far as I'm concerned, yuck.
 
Steak Diane is a great sauce to make if pan searing and that also opens up the door for the classics like au poivre.
 
Peter Luger’s tastes like cocktail sauce
It does, though it's actually my favorite of the steak sauces. I use it in small amounts on the grocery store steaks I cook more often. With a really good cut of meat, or at a steak house, I don't use steak sauce.

I think it's the horseradish in Luger's sauce that makes it work with beef, but the tomato base does give it a 'cocktail sauce' vibe.

I find A1 a little too strong of a flavor for me. Growing up on a farm/ranch, we ate a lot of beef always with Heinz 57 on the table, but decades later I'm not a fan of it.

I like chimichurri sauce with steak; I really need to try making my own, as I'm sure fresh is superior to bottled.

Only thing I ever use A1 for is a tbs or 2 in BBQ sauce making. Putting it dierctly on a good steak is IMO, sacrilege. :emoji_angry:
 
I occasionally like a green peppercorn sauce on my steak, but that has to be homemade.
And to be truthful, not every steak I've prepared has been a home run. Usually no sauce is needed, but on those rare occasions where I've totally screwed up something, a little A-1 will help.
One of my best friend's biggest faults is that he will almost always drown any piece of beef in A-1. Many's the time when I've had to restrain myself from breaking the bottle over his head.

When it comes to Steak Sauce, I don't have a set favorite.
I like to coat all of my Beef Smokes with "Lea & Perrins Bold steak Sauce" before adding the seasonings, prior to smoking them.

However if you're talking about a Sauce for a "Philadelphia Cheese Steak", there is only one sauce that captures the Real Flavor of an Authentic "Philly cheesesteak". I only put some on the roll & it's Perfect:

HA! love reading all the opinions on steak sauce. We're about the same. On a good steak, I'll pass but occasionally I do like the standard sauces on the market. A1, 57, etc....
 
While we're on good sauces there's this one which I like occasionally on pork, chicken, and seafood. Not really steak though.
