Spring BASS Fishing in Texas

I took my daughter fishing and this but a sampling of the fish we caught ~ Gotta love fishing and bbqing ~

And YES I always take the camera fishing cause we catch and releash most of our catch back to be caught another day .








My daughter caught this monster on a Zebco 202 with 8lb test ... it took her thirty minutes to play the fish down and get it to the bank !

Looks like fun. I've got a bass fishin trip planned for the end of May. Now I'm really itchin' to go!

Oh yea, makes for a fun day. I'm gonna try to take my three grand daughters fishing next week when I get back home from work.

Nice lookin' Texas Bass.

I caught a few when I was stationed at Ft Hood in 1970 & 71.

Most of mine were a little smaller.

Great that the girls had fun !

Most of them were caught in the corner of the mouth ! One was the center of the gill .








j/k ~ fish were caught in a private pond that my father owns .

Forthood has some really good ponds down that got a lot of fishing pressure back then ... now days guys down there don't fish , they play games online ~

That was one of the things I liked about being in the Army. Most states you would be stationed at allowed you to buy a "Resident" fishing license, instead of the much more expensive "Non-resident" license.
I caught a lot of Bass in Texas & Georgia, and a bunch of Tilapia, Tuna, Mahi-Mahi (dolphin), and a nice Blue Marlin (9' 4 1/2"--241 lb.) while in Hawaii.

My only regret is that I didn't try my luck in 'Nam. My base camp was in the Mekong Delta (Dong Tam). My hooch was about 100 yards from the turning basin. No telling what I could have caught in there.

Mu 1st cuzz Donnie Thomas was there as well . He told me the same thing about maybe fishing there but he did no fishing either .
