A friend <NCSweet> has this on his wall, and every time I walk by it I am struck by the emotions and feelings it evokes. Any one who grew up with these characters will appreciate the picture.
On a related note...I walked by the TV the other day and saw my daughter (5 year old) watching Tom and Jerry...I said "What are you watching?" and proceeded to tell her that Daddy used to watch this when he was a kid. She didn't seem to surprised and proceeded to tell me that momma wouldn't change the channel so she HAD to watch this and really didn't like it...I just shook my head and walked off...
These cartoons today I really don't understand, they just don't make much sense and how kids get into them I will never know...they will never be as good as the good ole Bugs, Daffy, Donald, Road runner, and of course Tom and Jerry...
There are several episode where bugs bunny wears black face, episodes where bugs acts as a slave during a civil war episode and other such episodes that are banned due to racial content. Even the episodes that portray japanese and germans in ww2 are banned. Let me see if I can find a link to them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censored_Eleven
Well done Rich. But what about all the rest of the cartoons not on the air anymore? Fat Albert, Hong Kong Fui to name a couple.
Whats up with the "Sponge Bob Square Pants"????????
Do you remember grape ape? Wonder dog, there was one with an octupus on it too...flinstones...
Saturday mornings were great, get up, graba pillow and throw in on the floor, lay there watching the bugs bunny/road runner show while eating your capt crunch!
yup they sure ain't-heckle&jeckle-quick draw mcgraw-what memories.I grew up in Japan-6 years, had the pleasure of some of there toons too. and saw Tokyo rebuilt 11 times from reptilicus (sp) and grodzilla!
Oh man, now you're bringing back memories. I recall many a saturday morning that I'd get up early grab a blanket and pillow and run out to the living room to watch good cartoons. The ones these days are just garbage!
On a side note, I had no idea that some of the Warner Bros. stuff was banned. My parents have an old 8mm film of "Bugs Bunny in Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt." I suppose that's probably banned now do to it being "insensitive" to native americans. I wonder what that would fetch on ebay? Hmm.
Heck I learned all I needed from wile "E" coyotee (forgive the misspelling of his name) I always wished he would capture the road runner... That dern bird annoyed me.
