6.5 lb bird flattened, sprinkled with SPOG for the cook with a Pineapple Turmeric glaze for the finish.
Used lump to get things going then went to mostly Ash.
Picked up an instant read at Home Depot on a whim yesterday morning and don't know how I ever managed without one....

912smoker; there are probably better ones out there but for $19.95 this one works for me. You have to initially calibrate it with ice and water.
Takes about 2 seconds to get a reading.
chopsaw; yes it's a hoot. I can use wood from my fireplace rack and not have to worry about whether it fits the firebox on my offset.
Not a good idea on a windy day, though....
