I cooked some crawdads over Memorial weekend. It's not smoked but it's outdoor cookin' :)
They tasted pretty good with a few cold brews.

Seasoned my pot, added lemons, onions, garlic, new potatoes and smoked sausage.

Then added the corn and crawdads..

Added some shrimp and crab legs...

Went through lots of garlic bread, garlic butter, cocktail sauce, beer and napkins...

It was tasty! :)

Thanks for checking out my mudbugs!

That is some mighty fine looking grub ya got there.

me thinks a trip to Oklahoma is in order

Thanks for sharing Jeanie

Excellent boil jeanie, thanks for sharing. Reminds me that I need to get the trap out and go get some crawdads.
Was looking forward to the crawdad festival near here in the town of Isleton, but politics got involved the last couple of years, and now it is canceled this year. Just heard on the radio the other day.

That looks great! Do you catch your own, or buy em. If you catch your own, how do you get em ready? I've heard about feeding some cornmeal or something for a few days to "purge" the mud from them. Any other tips. We have a few around up here in the summer. They don't get real big, but probably big enough. Alas, I leant my minnow trap to a guy for this reason. Haven't seen the trap or the guy since. My mistake, I'm usually pretty tight with my gear, but had a moment of weakness.

Thanks Mule!
I trap them. I usually use chicken parts for bait, leave the trap out overnight.
When I bring them home, I put them in fresh water for awhile then salt the heck out of the water to purge their system. Then back into fresh water.
I use my crawdad traps to harvest my shrimp in the fall too. Works great! :)

Hope you get your trap back so you can catch some too!

lol That sounds like so much fun! Maybe I should start my own festival.
