So I could not get a membrane off a st louis cut sunday

and man it was really tough, i have heard positives on both but i usually take the membrane off all my ribs. think i will continue doing it
 
With practice the membrane will come off more easily.  Still, they sometimes rip and become hard to remove.  When that happens, I score the membrane between the bones to allow smoke and seasonings thru.

I use a pair of catfish skinning pliers, they work great. There a couple of bucks at wally world. 
 
I did S.O.B.s trick of running the membrane side under hot water for a little bit and it pulled off real nice!!
