Has anyone smoked cupim? It's the hump on the back of brazilian cattle.

Is it actually meat? I always assumed it was a lump of fat.
If it's meat, send like it would be tender, more like a steak to me. Can't imagine it doing much real work sticking up of the neck like that.

Where do you buy this cut?

I bought it by accident in a Brazilian meat market in Fort Myers. Their English was not so good, and I thought I was buying something else. I looked it up, slow cooked it, and it was fantastic. So, I thought smoking it might be a worthwhile endeavor. It is heavily marbled. In Brazilian restaurants I found out they slow cook it on a skewer and slice it off the skewer table side.

Very cool!
Please do it and share pics!

I honestly had to look...didn't have a clue what it was!

I’ve never used it, but I’ve had a couple amazing meals at Brazilian steak houses! I’ll have to check around, that’s an interesting thing to try!

Scrolling quickly, the title looked like "Smoking Opium", and I was interested to see where you were going with it...

Well, let us know where you end up, it's been a while!:emoji_laughing:

Man now I have to find some!! I think any well marbled meat that is great in a slow cooker could be smoked for a good result.

Well, gotta problem, I'm in Ohio, my smoker is in Ohio, but no cupim. Will be in Florida soon, no smoker but know where to get cupim. Will bring some back in the spring to smoke. By the way, there is no blood in cupim. Makes it unique.

Where in Ohio?
